When I started noticing that my iPhone home screen was practically aqua, despite the dark background, I decided to conduct a formal study of iPhone/iPad app background colors. The results?
More than half (52 percent) of all iPhone/iPad apps are either blue or black. The message? Designers and developers need to stop making blue iPhone apps! The full rainbow of statistics is shown in the chart above, but the numbers speak for themselves: purple is the loneliest color.
