Back in February we wrote about Facebook’s secret Project Titan — a web-based email client that we hear is unofficially referred to internally as its “Gmail killer”. Now we’ve heard from sources that this is indeed what’s coming on Monday during Facebook’s special event, alongside personal @facebook.com email addresses for users.
This isn’t a big surprise — the event invites Facebook sent out hinted strongly that the news would have something to do with its Inbox, sparking plenty of speculation that the event could be related to Titan. Our understanding is that this is more than just a UI refresh for Facebook’s existing messaging service with POP access tacked on. Rather, Facebook is building a full-fledged webmail client, and while it may only be in early stages come its launch Monday, there’s a huge amount of potential here.

Perchè "as its Gmail killer"? Mi colpisce spesso che qualche innovazione abbia sempre quelle orme da killer, di fronte a quello che l'è preceduta nel tempo. Sogno un mondo in cui sarà possibile inventare e mettere in moto idee e progetti che non litigheranno piu', ma che collaboreranno a fare la vita piu' degna di essere vissuta. Piu' bella. Senza sorpassi. Rivaleggiando solo nel non sciupare gli altri, invece godendo il successo altrui come quello proprio. Collaborare non è solo piu' bello di competere, è anche piu' utile e pratico. Proccura buone vibrazioni, armonia e facilita il progresso. Si è comprovato nelle scuole piu' avanzate in cui gli alluni lavorano insieme per fare i compiti, gli studi, le ricerche in aula, e le qualifiche si condividono nel gruppo, che i risultati scolastici e la maturità dei ragazzi e bambini si sviluppano molto di meglio. Ilfuturo sarà dei collaboratori o non sarà possibile.
