Wondering what Google’s answer to Amazon’s cloud music player for Android will look like? Then it would seem you now have your answer –the Tech From 10 website somehow managed to receive a developer version of the Android Market, which allowed it to download Android Music 3.0 and try it out for themselves. That site’s unfortunately down at the moment (along with the download of the app itself that it was providing), but it doesn’t look like there’s too many surprises to be found. Things are almost identical to the existing Android Music player in terms of appearance, while the settings menu has expectedly been augmented with various streaming-related options. Android Market itself has also apparently been tweaked slightly, and the developer version included a few other surprises as well, including new camera and desk clock apps. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet been able to try it out ourselves, but you can keep an eye on the source link below for the downloads to return.

Amazon’s Cloud Drive, announced on Tuesday, allows customers to store about 1,000 songs on the company’s Web servers for free instead of their own hard drives and play them over an Internet connection directly from Web browsers and on phones running Google Inc’s Android software.

Sony Music, home to artists such as Shakira and Kings of Leon, was upset by Amazon’s decision to launch the service without new licenses for music streaming, said spokeswoman Liz Young. “We hope that they’ll reach a new license deal,” Young said, “but we’re keeping all of our legal options open.”

Amazon beat rivals Google and Apple Inc into the market for such “music locker” services, which are meant to appeal to consumers frustrated by the complexities of storing their favorite songs at work, home and on their smartphones. Apple and Google were expected to launch their services at the end of last year. Shares of Amazon rose 3.1 percent to close at $174.62 on Nasdaq.

Nel comunicato non è nemmeno citato il modello più famoso della casa giapponese, il Technics SL 1200, l’unico giradischi che è insieme icona tecnologica, strumento musicale e reperto da museo.

Il Technics SL 1200 nasce nel 1972 ed è una rivoluzione. A differenza di quasi tutti gli altri giradischi dell’epoca, non ha la trazione a cinghia, ma diretta: il piatto dove si appoggia il disco è collegato all’albero del motore ed è relativamente leggero, quindi raggiunge rapidamente i 33 o 45 giri che sono lo standard per la riproduzione del vinile. E’ un exploit tecnologico notevole, ma un successo solo a metà. Pensato per il mercato domestico, il giradischi viene adottato soprattutto da radio e discoteche perché è robusto, affidabile, poco sensibile alle vibrazioni: perfetto per suonare a lungo senza problemi.
