But, Google CEO Eric Schmidt told a group of industry brass Sunday  evening, that will mean big changes to the news business and Google will  continue being an integral part of those changes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Newspapers, he said, will make money once again. But it will be from  online advertisements and an altered subscription model. &#8220;We have a business model problem, we don\u2019t have a news problem,&#8221;  Schmidt said. Speaking to the American Society of News Editors\u2019 annual convention at  the J.W. Marriott in downtown Washington, Schmidt showered praise on the  industry, calling journalism an \u201cart.\u201d Schmidt said he reads three  newspapers, and called their work indispensible. And he blasted blogs,  saying that any questions about the value of newspaper editors can be  answered: &#8220;look at the blog world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;High quality journalism will triumph,&#8221; he said. But along with that praise came advice about how the business should  change. Organizations should refocus their attention on personalizing  content and disseminating news through mobile devices, he said  \u2013businesses in which Google is heavily involved.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt told the mostly full ballroom at the ASNE annual convention that  \u201cnew forms of making money will develop,\u201d and that Google is working on  those forms, but he declined to divulge many details about that work. \u201cThe web can ultimately be very good for news,\u201d Schmidt said. \u201cThink  about it, you have more readers than ever, you have more sources than  ever, for sure you have more ways to report and new forms of money \u2013 new  forms of making money will develop.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Terrore diffuso in alcune testate italiane :-)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"TixyyLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0410\/35649.html#ixzz0krvggnyY\"><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Via Politico The chief executive of Google has a message for the staggering newspaper industry: Things will get better.
