{"id":3120,"date":"2008-02-26T03:30:56","date_gmt":"2008-02-26T01:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pasteris.it\/blog\/2008\/02\/26\/storie-di-truffe-in-rete-alla-americana-domain-front-running\/"},"modified":"2008-02-26T03:30:56","modified_gmt":"2008-02-26T01:30:56","slug":"storie-di-truffe-in-rete-alla-americana-domain-front-running","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pasteris.it\/blog\/2008\/02\/26\/storie-di-truffe-in-rete-alla-americana-domain-front-running\/","title":{"rendered":"Storie di truffe in rete alla americana: Domain Front Running"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/community\/node\/25376\">Network World<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tqlkg.com\/image-1158024-10437537\" align=\"right\" height=\"100\" width=\"240\" \/><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\">A Los Angeles firm this afternoon has announced a class action against <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/yro.slashdot.org\/article.pl?sid=08\/02\/15\/2121200\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\">Network Solutions<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\"> and <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\">ICANN<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\"> over the former&#8217;s practice of locking up domain names as soon as they are searched for on its site, which means the party searching can buy the name only from Network Solutions.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\">The practice has been <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/community\/node\/24521\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\">highly controversial<\/font><\/a><font size=\"3\"> and now lawyers at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kbklawyers.com\/\">Kabateck Brown Kellner<\/a> are tossing around words such as &#8220;defraud&#8221; and &#8220;scheme.&#8221; They&#8217;re also suing ICANN for failing to stop what is known in the industry as &#8220;front running.&#8221;<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">Network Solutions has forced millions of people to buy Internet domain names from them instead of cheaper competitors through a scheme that&#8217;s netted the firm millions of <\/font><\/font><font size=\"3\">dollars, a federal class action lawsuit filed today by Kabateck Brown Kellner, LLP states. ICANN, whose policies facilitate the scheme, is also named in the suit, filed in U.S. District Court, Central District of California.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&#8220;Imagine if you asked a car dealer if they had a black convertible and <\/font><\/font><font size=\"3\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">were then forced to buy the car from them. Would you get a good deal?
